Minnesota's new Community Solar Garden Program lets homeowners and businesses buy solar power virtually: instead of putting solar on their roof, these customers instead become subscribers to a larger 'Solar Garden' in their community.
The Solar Garden generates power that is sold to the utility, and these customers receive a credit on their electric bill.
The solar power is developed at a lower cost than standard utility rates meaning these customers are saving money while generating clean power!
CoPower investors loaned $1,150,000 CAD to help OYA Solar and its partners kick off the development of up to 10MW of solar project, expected to be completed in the Fall of 2016.
